July Update
Hey everyone! Hope all is well and you all have enough sunscreen because it is really hot outside! We had a lot of great things going on this month as we prepare for welcome week next month! Let's jump into it!
Activate 2026:
This month we hosted the second annual Activate Conference for our students. Activate is a refresher conference for our student leaders to get ready for the school year and go over information they were taught over the year and at SICM. We had around 70 students show up, which is so great to see students take a weekend off from their work and summer to be dedicated to learning more about the Lord! From Collin, there were 10 of our students who are ready to hit the campus running when school starts to evangelize and share the good news!
The topics that we went over were: The Role of the Holy Spirit, Living as Missionaries, Ministry Case Studies, How to Ask Good Questions, and Inductive Bible Studies. Here is the Spotify link is you want to listen to any of them. It was a great time and so fun to see everyone there! Here are some pictures from the event:
TNF:
We just recently finished the last summer TNF with our licensing ceremony. Our licensing ceremony is a way for us campus missionaries to dedicate ourselves to our respective campuses and devote our energy to being the shepherds of the community. Here is a picture from the licensing ceremony; these are the new apprentices that are going to be missionaries for the next 10 months all around our FOCUS campuses. It is so great to see these young adults commit their lives to doing ministry, even when they all could find a high-paying job in the workforce.
That is probably the worst picture I have ever taken in my life, but if you squint your eyes, there are going to be 9 new apprentices joining us, which is so exciting! This was the last Summer TNF; the next TNF will be in the first week of school at Collin College.
Ministry Update:
I started doing our Focus on Jesus study with a student who goes to the Celina Collin campus. He currently leads a small group with his Chick-fil-A coworkers, which is so cool! This guy has a huge heart for God and asks a lot of great questions during our study. I'm planning to co-lead a Bible study with him at the Celina campus when the school year starts, which would be the first time FOCUS has had a presence there.
Currently, we have four students who are going to be our Corefas (co-facilitators) and lead small groups across the Collin campuses. We are super excited for each of them as they love God dearly and love the mission we have of making and maturing disciples on campus. I'm excited to see how God grows and develops them!
Prayer Requests:
Please be praying for all the students that are going to Collin this year and that their hearts would be open to joining our community and becoming Christians. Be praying for our staff that we would have energy and be focused completely on serving the students here at Collin, and for the Spirit to give us the words to say during welcome week. Lastly, be praying for our student leaders that they are given confidence and boldness to preach the gospel to their peers.
Thank You:
Thank you so much for all of your generous donations. It is truly a blessing to be able to be on campus at Collin full-time, getting to spread the word of our Lord to all the students there. I am truly grateful to you all for partnering with my wife and I. Your support allows the formation of a God centered community at Collin to flourish. FOCUS would not be around and as robust as it is without your support.
P.S. Here is a testimony from our very own Denzel Rodriguez from Collin College. I had the honor of getting to study FOJ with him this past year. Your donations support students like Denzel and allow missionaries like me to walk alongside him in his journey of faith. Thank you!
