April Blog

Hey everyone! I hope y'all had a great Easter and were able to spend some wonderful time outside as the weather is about to get real hot in Texas! The school year is coming soon to a close, but we are still going strong! Here is what happened this past month at Collin College.

  TNF:

TNF (Thursday Night Fellowship), has been a blast! I mentioned last month about our new sermon series that we started, it is called "How do disciples think about..." which then every week we cover a different topic regarding topics that we best believe our students need to hear. We have so far done: How do disciples think about getting advice, their role in community, conflict, their bodies and mental health, and dating. This is our last week before our end of the year party and I will be finishing off the sermon series by preaching on commitments. We have noticed that there is an overall issue with commitments among our students and that they need to realize that commitments and promise making are so important to being a Christian. I will preach about how God has made and kept so many promises with us even when things have gotten so bad especially in the Old Testament. As Christians, we make and keep our promises no matter what. I am looking forward to it! If you want to listen to any of our sermons you can go to Spotify and look up "Collin Focus". Here are two pictures from our recent TNF:

  Ministry Update:

My one-on-ones and small groups have been going well! As we are nearing the end of the semester, it is typical for students to grow restless and want Summer to come as quick as it can, so they can finally be done with school. As for their desire for our Bible studies and group events, they are on fire! I am encouraged by not only the devotion to Jesus that these young men are seeking after, but also by the commitment to this community that they have as well. Us pastors at Collin have been trying to get these guys to be friends with each other since the beginning of the school year and finally it seems to be happening among them. They are hanging out in groups on their own and meeting up individually with each other!

Before the summer starts I am mainly talking to my guys about how they can continue to seek out God during the summer. Without their normal school schedule and rhythm that they are in, it is easy to fall into laziness and revert back to their high school ways. I am encouraging them to make goals this summer to stay in the Bible and in their friendships so they can have spiritually fulfilling and restful summer. Here is a picture from a football hangout we had with our students this past month and a picture of one of our students Nick and I finishing our Bible Study FOJ:

Prayer Requests:

Our students are about to head off to our SICM (Leadership Conference) this next month, please pray that God will open their hearts, minds, and attitudes to seeing that they have the leadership potential to be a guiding light to all of those around them. That they will see their life from then on to spread the love of Jesus to anyone in their vicinity. Our mission statement with FOCUS, is to make and mature leaders so that where ever they end up, they can be a force of nature for the kingdom.

Also, pray that our students will use their time wisely during the summer. That they can continue to pursue Jesus and not waste their brains away during the break.

Then if you could be praying about my fundraising for this next school year that would be greatly appreciated! If you know anyone who would be interested in supporting campus ministry, please let me know!

    Thank You:

Thank you so much for your generous support of my ministry at Collin Community College. Because of your partnership, students are not only hearing the message of Jesus but also learning to walk with Him in their daily lives. Your support helps create a welcoming community where they feel known, encouraged, and challenged in their faith. It also gives us the opportunity to develop future leaders who will carry God’s love and truth into their classrooms, careers, and beyond. I’m truly grateful for the life-changing impact you’re making through your generosity.

P.S. Here is a student Testimony from one of our students from Collin! As you can see, your support helps students like her find a Jesus centered community where they can explore their faith and find meaning!
